This role is hands-on, varied, and ideal for someone who enjoys mechanical work, welding, and problem-solving.

  • $40/hr depending on experience Overtime paid after 40 hours worked
Schedule:
Monday
  • Friday Start time between 6:00 AM
  • 7:00 AM Typically 8
  • 10 hour shifts Average 50 hours per week Approximately 30% travel for roadside assistance and service calls No overnight travel required
Position Overview & Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on fleet vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, and related systems Perform preventive maintenance including inspections, oil changes, tire rotations, and component replacements Utilize diagnostic software, testing equipment, and precision tools to troubleshoot and minimize vehicle downtime Maintain FMCSA-required inspection certifications and accurate maintenance records Fabricate, modify, and repair blend systems, skids, and application systems using welding and metal fabrication techniques Install and upgrade parts, equipment, and systems on trucks and heavy equipment Coordinate with outside vendors when specialized repairs or fabrication services are required Collaborate with plant operations and fleet management teams to address equipment needs and improve operational efficiency Perform off-site service calls and emergency roadside repairs as needed Serve as a Driver/Applicator during the summer dust control season for up to 50% of scheduled hours based on business needs
Qualifications/Requirements:
Minimum 3-5 years of mechanic and/or fabrication experience in a fleet maintenance, shop, or similar environment Valid CDL Class A License required Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Tanker and Doubles endorsements required FMCSA Brake Inspector Certification required FMCSA Annual Inspector Certification required T-Series ASE Certifications preferred Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities Welding and metal fabrication experience preferred Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs safely Ability to work in varying weather conditions and shop/plant environments
Working Conditions:
Work performed in a fleet shop and plant environment Exposure to loud noises, equipment operation, chemicals, and frequent interruptions Occasional outdoor work in extreme weather conditions including heat, cold, and wind Requires close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment capabilities Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and physical labor
