Arlington Heights Ford is looking for an experienced, well-rounded Automotive Technician to join our Used Vehicle Reconditioning team. This is a great opportunity for a technician who enjoys working on a variety of vehicles and different makes and models rather than doing the same work every day. We are not necessarily looking for a Master Technician or a highly specialized transmission or diesel technician. We are looking for a dependable, productive technician with solid general mechanical skills who can inspect, diagnose and repair the types of issues commonly found when preparing used vehicles for sale. If you're currently a strong general service technician, automotive mechanic, used car technician, reconditioning technician, B-level technician or advanced maintenance technician and you're ready for a busy dealership environment with consistent work, we want to talk to you.
Job Responsibilities:
As a Used Vehicle Reconditioning Technician, you'll help get our pre-owned inventory inspected, repaired and ready for our customers.
Typical work may include:
Used vehicle inspections and safety checks Oil changes and routine maintenance Brakes and brake system repairs Tires, rotations and balancing Batteries and starting/charging systems Steering and suspension repairs Fluid services Belts, hoses and filters Cooling system repairs Check-engine-light and basic diagnostic work Minor electrical repairs Light engine and mechanical repairs Identifying additional repairs needed during the reconditioning process Working on Ford vehicles as well as a wide variety of domestic, Asian and European makes Heavy transmission, diesel or major engine work is not the primary focus of this position

Requirements:
Has previous professional automotive repair experience Is comfortable working on multiple makes and models Has strong general mechanical knowledge Can accurately inspect vehicles and identify needed repairs Can perform maintenance and mechanical repairs efficiently Has basic diagnostic and electrical troubleshooting ability Takes pride in doing the job correctly the first time Is dependable, productive and works well as part of a team Has a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Is willing to continue learning and developing their skills ASE certifications are a plus, but we are more interested in real-world ability, experience and work ethic than a wall full of certifications Why Arlington Heights Ford?
