Freightage Inc, a trucking company located in Blue Island, IL, is seeking one independent, highly knowledgeable, and skilled Reefer Technician/Reefer Mechanic to join our team. We are looking for someone with deep expertise in transport refrigeration systems to keep our fleet running at peak performance.

Normal Business Hours:

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Saturdays discussed/planned based on workload).

Key Skills & Requirements:

Must be highly skilled in the maintenance and repair of Transport Refrigeration Units (TRUs) (Thermo King, Carrier Transicold experience preferred). Prior experience in heavy truck repair, including diagnostics and electrical systems, is a big plus. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills. Speak and read English fluently. Must be self-motivated and able to work without supervision. Must have reliable transportation and your own set of tools. Technical training in an accredited program is preferred.

Core Responsibilities:

Refrigeration System Specialist:

Conduct thorough inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on Reefer units to ensure proper operating temperature and cargo safety.

Preventative Maintenance:

Perform routine maintenance on reefer engines, compressors, evaporator/condenser coils, and fan assemblies.

Diagnostics:

Troubleshoot and repair complex refrigeration controls, electrical systems, and fuel systems related to TRUs.

General Fleet Maintenance:

Assist with maintenance of company fleet trucks and trailers, including tire changes, brake repairs, suspension work, and general shop upkeep.

DOT Compliance:

Ensure all equipment and reefer units comply with DOT regulations and food safety transport standards.

Documentation:

Maintain clean and organized records of repairs and inspections.
