Inspections:
Conduct required cargo tank tests (V, I, K, T, UC, P, L) on MC306/DOT406, chemical, and vacuum trailers, completing all required compliance paperwork.
DOT Safety Inspections:
Perform comprehensive DOT Annual and Preventive Maintenance (PM) safety inspections.
Mechanical & System Repairs:
Troubleshoot and repair heavy-duty air brake systems, suspension components, specialized valves, and electrical systems.
Welding & Fabrication:
Perform structural metal repairs using MIG/TIG welding on aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel tanks.
Yard & Shop Operations:
Safely operate heavy-duty trucks to move trailers in and out of bays, complete detailed work orders, and strictly adhere to OSHA/confined-space safety standards.
Qualifications & Requirements Certification:
Valid DOT Inspection Certification meeting FMCSA criteria as a Registered Cargo Tank Inspector (required).
Experience:
2 to 5+ years of dedicated tank trailer repair, maintenance, and HM-183 testing experience.
Technical Skills:
Strong background in heavy truck/trailer mechanical diagnostics, electrical schematics, air brakes, and welding/fabrication.
Physical Capabilities:
Ability to lift 50-75 lbs, climb ladders to top-of-tank walkways, and enter confined space tank manholes safely.
Drive & Mindset:
A pride in workmanship, strong problem-solving skills, and a valid driver's license with the ability to maneuver heavy equipment.
