Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and skilled Trailer Technician/Builder to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, repairing, and maintaining a variety of trailers and heavy-duty equipment. Your expertise will ensure that all trailers meet safety standards, are built to specifications, and operate efficiently. Responsibilities Assemble trailers and related equipment using schematics, technical drawings, and blueprints with precision and attention to detail. Perform repairs and maintenance on trailers, including mechanical systems, hydraulics, air brakes, suspensions, shocks & struts, and electrical systems. Conduct diagnostics on vehicle systems utilizing automotive electrical system repair knowledge and automotive diagnostics tools. Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial machinery safely and efficiently during assembly or repair processes. Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques to fabricate parts or modify trailer components as needed. Inspect completed work for quality assurance, ensuring compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications. Maintain detailed records of repairs, assembly processes, and parts used; troubleshoot issues using schematics and technical manuals. Requirements Proven experience in dealership settings or heavy equipment repair environments preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in fabrication, welding, and equipment assembly. Familiarity with heavy truck repair including transmissions, diesel engines, HVAC systems, brakes, suspension systems, and vehicle electrical systems. Ability to operate heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely and effectively. Experience reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex mechanical or electrical issues. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance tools required for trailer building or repairs. Knowledge of automotive diagnostics along with vehicle maintenance procedures for farm machinery or industrial equipment. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong attention to detail; capable of performing heavy lifting safely. Valid certifications related to heavy equipment operation (e.g., forklift certification) are a plus; relevant experience is essential. Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate clearly with team members and clients about repairs or assembly processes.
