The Automotive Body Repair Technician is responsible for repairing, restoring, and refinishing damaged motor vehicle bodies. The position involves structural and non-structural repairs using industry-standard tools and equipment to return vehicles to manufacturer safety and quality specifications.Specific duties include:
- Inspect damaged vehicles to assess the extent of structural and cosmetic body damage.
- Remove and replace damaged body parts, including panels, doors, bumpers, fenders, hoods, and trim components.
- Repair dents, creases, and structural damage using metal shaping, welding, straightening, and refinishing preparation techniques.
- Operate frame straightening and computerized measuring equipment to restore vehicle frames and unibody structures to factory specifications.
- Perform sectioning and structural repairs following manufacturer repair procedures and collision industry standards.
- Prepare repaired surfaces for refinishing by sanding, filling, smoothing, and applying primers and sealers.
- Align body panels and structural components to ensure proper fit, finish, and vehicle safety.
- Repair or replace plastic and composite body components using appropriate repair methods.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
: Two (2) years of experience in automotive body repair and collision repair. Must have two (2) years' experience in each::- Repairing and replacing damaged vehicle body panels.
- Performing structural or frame repairs using frame straightening equipment.
- Using welding and metal finishing tools in automotive body repair.
- Preparing vehicle surfaces for refinishing through sanding, filling, and priming.
- Aligning body panels and structural components for proper fit and function.
