Job Description

Pump Test Technician (Mobile)
Fire Apparatus Service & NFPA Pump Testing Location:
Roxana, IL (shop) + weekly travel in
IL/MO/IA
Schedule:
Days | Typically 7:00 AM-3:30 PM (varies by job)
Pay:
$20-$35/hr + $75/day per diem + paid travel time
Overtime:
Typically 10-15 hours/week while on the road Overview Join Launch as a Mobile Pump Test Technician —a hands-on role that helps keep fire departments ready when it matters most. You'll travel Monday through Friday to customer fire department locations across Illinois, Missouri, and Iowa, hauling and operating a pump test trailer, completing inspections, and performing preventive maintenance and repairs on fire apparatus. I You'll be trained alongside a veteran mobile technician and supported by a team that equips you for success. If you're mechanically inclined, safety-minded, and want a role with variety, responsibility, and strong customer interaction, this is it. Required Skills Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment in the field Ability to haul, set up, operate, and maintain a pump test trailer at customer sites Experience or capability to perform preventive maintenance (routine service, oil changes, lubrication, aerial cleaning) Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues (engines, transmissions, pumps, and related systems) Comfort working with systems such as plumbing, valves, foam systems, and water tanks Ability to calibrate/verify gauges, flow meters, and testing equipment prior to use Strong documentation habits (testing results, parts usage, inspections, service activities, certification paperwork) Professional, service-oriented communication with customers and internal teams Commitment to following company, OSHA, and site-specific safety policies Willingness to travel Monday-Friday and maintain long-term commitment to the role Nice to Have Skills Prior experience working on fire apparatus (pumpers, aerials, etc.) or as a firefighter familiar with firetruck systems Heavy truck, farm equipment, or fleet maintenance background Experience using service documentation for component-level diagnostics Familiarity with NFPA standards (work must comply with applicable NFPA requirements) Preferred Education and Experience Preferred background in hands-on mechanical work such as: Automotive mechanic Heavy truck mechanic Fire apparatus mechanic Farm equipment mechanic Other mechanically inclined service/repair experience
Other Requirements Travel:
Monday-Friday within Illinois, Missouri, and Iowa (pick up gear/tools at the Roxana shop Monday; return Friday)
Tools:
Provide your own basic tools (e.g., wrench set, drills, impact); specialty tools are provided on the work truck Ability to work overtime when needed (especially while traveling) Must maintain accurate compliance/certification records for serviced apparatus
Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
