Job Description
Experienced Automotive Service Technician Marketplace Chevrolet | Stonewall, LA Marketplace Chevrolet is hiring proven, experienced automotive technicians who take pride in diagnosing vehicles correctly, repairing them right the first time, and standing behind their work. This is not an entry-level position and is not intended for someone looking to "learn as they go" without prior dealership or professional repair experience. We are looking for technicians with a documented work history, verifiable technical ability, strong productivity, and a reputation for quality repairs and professional conduct. If you are a technician who can consistently diagnose, communicate, produce, and deliver quality work in a busy dealership environment, we want to talk with you. What You'll Do Diagnose and repair Chevrolet and GM vehicles according to factory procedures and quality standards. Perform accurate, efficient repairs across mechanical, electrical, drivability, HVAC, chassis, engine, transmission, and advanced vehicle systems as applicable to your skill level. Complete repair orders, technician stories, inspection results, and time documentation accurately and thoroughly. Perform multipoint inspections and clearly identify maintenance, safety, and repair needs for the service team. Communicate effectively with the Shop Foreman, Service Advisors, Parts Department, and management when additional diagnosis, parts, authorization, or repair time is needed. Follow GM service information, bulletins, wiring diagrams, scan-tool procedures, warranty requirements, and proper repair processes. Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and professional work area. Protect customer vehicles and ensure repairs are completed correctly before delivery. Contribute to a team environment built around accountability, efficiency, quality, and doing the right thing for the customer. Minimum Qualifications Applicants must be able to demonstrate and verify the following: At least 5 years of professional automotive repair experience required. Prior dealership, OEM, or high-volume independent repair-shop experience strongly preferred. A stable and verifiable employment history as an automotive technician. Proven ability to complete quality repairs efficiently and maintain strong productivity. Experience using factory service information, wiring diagrams, scan tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair-order systems. Ability to diagnose—not simply replace parts—using a logical testing process. Strong understanding of automotive electrical systems, drivability concerns, brakes, suspension, HVAC, engine performance, and general mechanical repair. Current ASE certifications are preferred; GM certification, GM training, or GM dealership experience is a major plus. Ability to provide professional references from prior service managers, shop foremen, fixed-operations directors, or dealership leadership. Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Ability to pass pre-employment screening consistent with company policy. Who Should Apply You should apply if you are: A working technician with real-world diagnostic and repair experience. Able to explain your repair background, technical strengths, certifications, past training, and production history. Comfortable being accountable for repair quality, efficiency, attendance, documentation, and customer vehicle care. Interested in a long-term opportunity with a professional Chevrolet service operation. Motivated to improve your skills, earn based on performance, and work with a team that values technicians. Compensation and Benefits Great starting base rate compared to our area plus additional bonus tiers with production. Marketplace Chevrolet offers competitive compensation based on skill level, certifications, experience, production, and demonstrated diagnostic ability. Other compensation details, available performance opportunities, benefits, scheduling, and technician-development opportunities will be discussed during the interview process. Apply With Confidence When applying, please include a current résumé showing your technician employment history, relevant certifications, dealership or OEM experience, and primary areas of technical expertise. Qualified candidates should be prepared to discuss prior production, diagnostic experience, training, and professional references during the interview process. Marketplace Chevrolet is an equal-opportunity employer.
