This is a highly visible leadership role centered on the service drive, advisor performance, customer satisfaction, sales growth, and team culture. This position is not intended to operate as a traditional back-of-shop Service Manager role. Working alongside the Shop Foreman, Parts Manager, and Fixed Operations Director, the Service Manager will take ownership of the customer-facing side of the service department—leading a motivated team of Service Advisors, BDC Agents, and Porters to deliver a consistently welcoming, efficient, and high-level customer experience. If you thrive in a fast-paced dealership environment, know how to coach a team to perform, enjoy being present with customers and employees throughout the day, and bring positive energy to every morning, we want to hear from you. What You'll Do Lead the daily service-drive operation and ensure every customer is greeted promptly, professionally, and with a genuine sense of urgency. Spend the majority of the day actively engaged in the service drive—supporting advisors, assisting customers, resolving concerns, and keeping the department moving. Manage, coach, train, and hold accountable a team of Service Advisors, BDC Agents, and Porters. Conduct daily advisor check-ins, performance coaching, goal-setting meetings, and follow-up on assigned tasks. Help advisors improve sales performance, repair-order quality, customer communication, repair recommendations, appointment conversions, and follow-up habits. Ensure advisors complete daily operational responsibilities, including customer updates, MPI follow-up, declined-service opportunities, open repair orders, rental agreements, and delivery processes. Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and professional service drive and customer waiting environment. Lead high-energy morning meetings that set the tone for the day through motivation, accountability, recognition, games, music, and team engagement. Build a culture of teamwork, positive competition, high fives, urgency, and pride in the customer experience. Oversee the rental and loaner fleet, including availability, cleanliness, customer agreements, vehicle condition, scheduling, and communication. Coordinate with the Shop Foreman to ensure repairs are progressing properly, promised times are being managed, and vehicle quality meets Marketplace Chevrolet standards. Work closely with the Parts Manager to support efficient parts communication, repair planning, estimate completion, and reduced customer wait time. Monitor the quality of vehicles leaving the shop to help ensure repairs are completed correctly, vehicles are clean, and customers receive a professional delivery experience. Oversee the warranty-claim submission process administered through a third-party company, ensuring required documentation, repair-order notes, and claim processes are completed accurately and on time. Handle escalated customer concerns with professionalism, ownership, and a solution-oriented mindset. Track and improve customer satisfaction, online reviews, survey performance, retention, advisor sales results, appointment performance, and service-drive efficiency. Review department performance regularly and communicate results, needs, opportunities, and action plans to the Fixed Operations Director. Support hiring, onboarding, development, recognition, and retention of high-performing service-lane team members. What We're Looking For 3-5 years of automotive service-department experience required. Prior experience in a customer-facing automotive service role is required; experience as a Service Advisor, Assistant Service Manager, Service Lane Manager, BDC Manager, or similar role is strongly preferred. Proven record of success in customer satisfaction, service sales, customer retention, advisor coaching, and team development. Demonstrated ability to lead from the front, hold people accountable, and create a positive, performance-driven team culture. Strong customer experience management skills with the ability to de-escalate concerns and turn difficult situations into loyal customers. Ability to read and use performance data to set goals, coach individuals, and improve results. Excellent communication, follow-up, organization, and time-management skills. Comfortable working in a fast-paced service-drive environment with frequent customer interaction and shifting priorities. Strong working knowledge of dealership service operations, repair-order processes, appointment management, warranty documentation, rental/loaner procedures, and service-lane workflow. A self-starter with high energy, a professional presence, and the ability to motivate a team every day. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required. The Right Person The ideal candidate is visible, engaged, and accountable—not someone who manages from an office. You will be on the drive, talking with customers, coaching advisors in real time, recognizing wins, solving problems quickly, and helping create an experience that makes customers want to return. You should be comfortable starting each morning with energy and purpose: a quick motivating message, performance updates, recognition, music, games, high fives, and a clear plan for winning the day. You understand that great service results come from a team that feels supported, challenged, prepared, and excited to perform. Reporting Structure This position reports directly to the Fixed Operations Director and works in close partnership with the Shop Foreman and Parts Manager. Compensation This position offers a competitive base salary along with monthly performance-based bonus opportunities. Total compensation is designed to reward leadership, team development, customer-experience results, service sales performance, operational execution, and achievement of departmental goals. Specific compensation details, bonus structure, and benefits will be discussed further during the interview process. Why Marketplace Chevrolet Marketplace Chevrolet offers the opportunity to lead a growing, customer-first service operation with a team-oriented culture. You will have the chance to make a direct impact on advisor performance, customer loyalty, departmental sales, employee engagement, and the overall reputation of our service department. We are looking for a leader who brings urgency, positivity, structure, and a genuine passion for taking care of people—customers and teammates alike.
