This is not a truck-wrenching job. Most of our trucks are leased, and the leasing company handles their service. What we need is someone who can keep everything else running — the small engines, the equipment, the trailers — and get equipment where it needs to be. You'd be our in-house mechanic: dozens of small-engine machines, skid steers and loaders, trailers, plows and snow equipment, plus the wiring, hydraulics and welding that go with keeping a working fleet on its feet. What you'll do Service, diagnose and rebuild small-engine equipment — compactors, plate tampers, power washers, demo and cut-off saws, trowel machines, blowers, trimmers, mowers, generators Diagnose and repair skid steers and loaders — engine, hydraulics, electrical, drive and attachments. This is a core requirement, not a nice-to-have Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems: pumps, cylinders, hoses, fittings, leaks and pressure problems Diagnose and repair 12V and equipment electrical — wiring, harnesses, connectors, charging systems, lights, switches and controls Diesel engine repair on equipment: fuel systems, filters, glow/starting systems, cooling, belts and general driveability Trailer repair and maintenance — brakes, bearings, axles, suspension, lighting, wiring, couplers, decking and safety chains, and getting them through inspection Welding and fabrication — repair cracked buckets, brackets, frames and racks; fabricate what we can't buy Plow and snow equipment: pre-season prep, hydraulics, wiring, cutting edges, in-season emergency repairs Drop off and collect equipment at job sites and at dealers or vendors, and check machines over before they go out and when they come back Run a weekly preventive-maintenance checklist across the fleet so failures happen in the shop, not on a job Log work orders with times, parts and labor; keep the shop and yard clean and organized Show crews how to run equipment properly, so it comes back in one piece What we're looking for Strong small engine repair background — this is the heart of the job Proven ability to diagnose and repair skid steers and loaders Hydraulic troubleshooting and repair Electrical and wiring diagnosis on equipment and trailers Diesel repair experience Welding — MIG or stick, enough to make a repair hold Trailer maintenance and repair Your own hand tools Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Basic computer skills for work orders and equipment records Nice to have MA Hoisting license (Class 2A), or obtainable within 3 months of hire ASE certifications Kubota, Bobcat, CAT, Takeuchi, John Deere or Case experience Portuguese or Spanish alongside English What we offer $30-$45/hr based on what you can actually do Year-round work — we're not a seasonal outfit Weekly pay Health and dental insurance Massachusetts earned sick time Paid holidays Overtime at time and a half over 40 Snow season work for anyone who wants the hours A real shop, and the run of it — you're not the third mechanic waiting for a bay A published pay ladder toward Fleet Manager Being straight with you about the work Shop and yard based, with field calls when something dies on a site.
