Silver Spring Auto & Fuel is a busy, well-established gas station and auto repair shop serving the local community just off New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring. We pride ourselves on honest, dependable service and are looking for a professional, customer-friendly Service Writer to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is organized, communicative, and enjoys helping people.

Position Overview:

As our Service Writer, you'll be the go-to person for customers bringing in their vehicles for inspections, diagnostics, and repairs. You'll coordinate with our mechanics, handle scheduling, create estimates, and order parts — all while providing a smooth and friendly experience for our customers. We use Mitchell 1 and ProDemand , so experience with automotive software is a plus, but we're willing to train the right person.

Key Responsibilities:

Greet customers and listen carefully to their vehicle concerns. Schedule appointments for state inspections and repair jobs with our mechanics. Build service estimates using Mitchell 1 and ProDemand . Order and manage parts needed for repairs and maintenance. Communicate with technicians to ensure jobs are completed on time and correctly. Keep customers informed throughout the repair process. Recommend additional services based on vehicle history and inspection findings. Maintain organized records of work orders, parts, and service history.

What We're Looking For:

Strong communication and customer service skills. Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks at once. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Experience using Mitchell 1, ProDemand, or similar systems preferred. Previous automotive service or front-desk experience is a big plus. Basic understanding of vehicle systems (brakes, tires, diagnostics, etc.). Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a bonus, but not required.
