Job Description

Truck and Trailer Service Technician / Mechanic (Full-Time / Will Train) Job Summary Richard Carrier Trucking, Inc., is currently seeking full-time Truck and Trailer Service Technicians / Mechanics to join our fleet maintenance team. While prior experience in heavy truck and trailer repair is a plus, we are entirely willing to train the right person. If you are highly reliable, eager to learn a valuable trade, and have a basic mechanical aptitude, we will provide you with the training and support needed to succeed. What You Will Do (We Will Train You) As an entry-level or transitioning technician, you will work alongside our experienced team to learn and perform the following duties:
Diagnostics & Analysis:
Learn to perform diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles to identify mechanical or electrical faults and interpret test results.
Routine & Preventative Maintenance:
Conduct inspections and maintenance tasks based on driver pre- and post-trip reports, ensuring vehicle reliability and fleet safety.
Systems Repair:
Assist in the repair of various truck and trailer bodies, suspension systems, electrical components, and the installation of specialty equipment and accessories.
Safety & Fleet Readiness:
Change tires, service brakes, top off fluids, and complete all required vehicle service tasks in a timely manner.
Documentation & Teamwork:
Maintain detailed, organized records of serviced vehicles and interact professionally with our drivers on a daily basis.
Shop Upkeep:

Qualification and Hiring Requirements Basic Tools:
You must possess or be willing to acquire a basic mechanical tool set.
License Requirements:
A minimum of a valid Class C driver's license is required. You must have the ability to obtain a State Inspection license down the road, focusing on commercial truck and trailer inspections (Categories A, D, and T).
Physical Fitness:
Ability to lift at least 75+ pounds and perform physical activities requiring considerable use of your whole body (climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, bending, and handling materials safely).
Focus:
Close mental and visual attention to detail is required for diagnostic and safety checks.
Team Spirit:
Ability to work well independently as well as seamlessly part of a maintenance team.
