Automotive Prototype / Vehicle Modification

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking Automotive Mechanics at the Junior, Mid-Level, and Senior levels to support vehicle modifications and prototype work on cars and trucks. Mechanics will perform diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, mechanical and electrical work, inspections, and component replacement. Candidates should be comfortable following technical procedures, using shop equipment, maintaining accurate vehicle records, and working independently or as part of a team. Senior Mechanics will also provide technical guidance, mentor junior team members, and help ensure work meets company and customer standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform vehicle inspections, diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and modifications based on repair orders or team-lead instructions. Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical system issues. Remove, replace, install, and modify vehicle parts and components. Read, interpret, and follow written service procedures, technical instructions, and repair documentation. Perform mechanical assembly and use automotive shop equipment safely and effectively. Maintain accurate vehicle records, including service notes, repairs, inspections, and work performed. Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot issues with shop equipment. Keep work areas, tools, and equipment organized and maintain daily shop cleanliness. Follow established safety procedures and quality standards. Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Senior Mechanics:

Provide technical support, train and mentor junior mechanics, review work, and assist with troubleshooting and complex repairs.

EXPERIENCE LEVELSJUNIOR AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC

Entry-level or early-career automotive mechanical experience. Basic understanding of vehicle mechanical and electrical systems. Ability to follow written procedures and instructions. Willingness to learn diagnostics, repairs, vehicle modifications, and prototype processes. Automotive education, training, or hands-on experience is a plus.

MID-LEVEL AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC

Demonstrated experience performing automotive diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and mechanical assembly. Ability to independently troubleshoot common mechanical and electrical issues. Comfortable using automotive shop equipment and specialty tools. Ability to read and execute technical/service procedures with limited supervision. Typically 3+ years of relevant mechanic experience.

SENIOR AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC

8+ years of professional mechanic experience preferred. Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly, vehicle systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures. Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues. Ability to work independently and serve as a technical resource for other mechanics. Experience training, coaching, or mentoring team members. Ability to oversee technical work and help ensure quality and customer requirements are met.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent. Relevant automotive mechanic experience based on position level. Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures. Ability to operate automotive shop equipment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Own professional mechanic tools and rolling toolbox. Good organizational and time-management skills. Ability to follow safety and quality requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Certificate or degree in Automotive Technology or a related field. State mechanic certifications. Valid driver's license. Experience with vehicle alignments. Experience servicing automotive A/C systems. Experience using tire machines and wheel balancers. Prototype, vehicle modification, or specialty automotive experience. Previous experience mentoring or leading other mechanics. Ability to work overtime, including weekends, as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position works in an automotive shop/prototype environment and may involve working on cars and trucks, using hand and power tools, lifting automotive components, and standing for extended periods. We welcome qualified mechanics at all experience levels. Responsibilities and level of supervision will be based on the candidate's experience and technical skill level.

Pay:

$21.00 - $29.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per week
