Van Operator & Vehicle Care — Independent Contractor (Detroit, MI) Catch a Ride Network | Detroit, MI | Contract (1099) About the Opportunity Catch a Ride Network is seeking a Detroit-based independent contractor to support our Grocery Express program, which provides dedicated transportation shifts to help residents of affordable housing get to grocery stores like Walmart, Meijer, and Kroger. This program is supported by Ford Philanthropy. We're looking for someone who can step in on a per-shift basis to drive our program van and help keep it road-ready — you choose which shifts you accept. What You'd Do Van Operation Shifts Operate our 12-passenger program van to complete scheduled 4.5-hour passenger routes when you accept a shift. Paid $100 per completed shift (flat rate, not hourly). Vehicle Care Coordination Coordinate routine maintenance and keep vehicle documentation current. Paid $45 per completed maintenance cycle coordinated. You may accept or decline individual shifts, and you're free to take on similar work with other organizations at the same time. What We're Looking For Proven, safe experience operating larger passenger vehicles (12-passenger van or similar) Valid Michigan Driver's License with a clean driving record (Chauffeur's License a plus, not required) Comfortable lifting/loading up to 40 lbs (groceries, mobility aids) Commitment to Catch a Ride Network's values of Trust, Compassion, and Perseverance Someone who's comfortable getting to know our riders and enjoys the opportunity of providing this service Compensation Paid per completed shift or maintenance cycle (flat rate — not hourly).
