Fleet Mechanic Job Description This role is a first-shift fleet mechanic position in a union environment, focused on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of fleet vehicles and related equipment. You will work as part of a small, dedicated team in a shop area within a warehouse facility. Responsibilities Perform routine and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot problems with diesel and other vehicle systems. Carry out repairs on engines, brakes, suspensions, electrical systems, and other mechanical components as needed. Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify wear, damage, or potential failures and recommend appropriate corrective actions. Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to complete maintenance and repair tasks efficiently and accurately. Document work performed, including parts used and services completed, in maintenance records or work orders. Collaborate with a team of mechanics and other warehouse personnel to prioritize and complete repair and maintenance requests. Follow safety procedures and shop guidelines to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members about vehicle status, repair timelines, and any issues that may affect operations. Essential Skills Hands-on experience in fleet maintenance, including servicing and repairing multiple types of vehicles. Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose mechanical and diesel-related issues accurately. Proficiency in performing mechanical repairs on engines, drivetrains, brakes, and related systems. Ability to work effectively in a union environment and follow established shop procedures. Capability to use standard mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment safely and correctly. Attention to detail in inspecting vehicles and documenting maintenance and repairs. Ability to work collaboratively with a small team in a busy warehouse setting. Previous diesel experience, with familiarity in servicing and repairing diesel-powered vehicles. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a fleet mechanic shop or similar maintenance facility. Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing mechanical issues. Ability to manage multiple maintenance and repair tasks and prioritize work effectively. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of St. Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $71011.12 - $71011.12/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
