Job Description

We are looking for a reliable and knowledgeable automotive/diesel/heavy equipment mechanic. In this role, you will inspect and repair vehicles and make recommendations for automotive/heavy equipment repairs and maintenance. You will also answer customer questions, inform customers about shop products and services, and adhere to vehicle & heavy equipment safety protocols. Automotive & Heavy Equipment Mechanic Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform routine automotive maintenance, such as oil changes and tire rotations.
Conducting scheduled maintenance to prevent future issues.
  • Identifying mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Repairing or replacing defective parts, performing routine maintenance, and overhauling major components.
  • Identify pre-existing and potential vehicle malfunctions.
  • Test vehicle parts prior to installation/repair.
  • Keep accurate records of completed and outstanding jobs.
  • Consistently meet deadlines for completed work.
  • Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job.
  • Meeting with customers to explain problems and viable solutions.
  • Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems
  • Checking vehicle lighting systems
  • Test driving vehicles to gauge performance.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks
  • Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles & equipment
  • Maintaining a parts inventory
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop Requirements and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational or postsecondary program completion preferred.
Mechanical Aptitude:
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • At least 3 years of previous experience in a related role
  • Extensive experience with various hand tools preferred
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and working in various positions.
  • Valid driver's license. (CDL strongly preferred)
  • Some welding experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic math and computer skills
  • Ability to diagnose and solve complex problems.

Full-time Pay:
