Job Description
Job Overview We are a small, family owned trucking company looking for an experienced Trailer Mechanic. Will need to have your own tools Duties Diagnose, repair, and maintain various trailer systems including brakes, suspensions, axles, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical components using schematics and technical manuals. Conduct heavy equipment operation tasks such as forklift handling, crane usage, and other industrial machinery to facilitate repairs or equipment movement. Perform fabrication work including welding, assembly, and custom modifications to trailers or components as needed. Inspect trailers thoroughly for safety compliance, tire service needs, shocks & struts replacement, alignment issues, HVAC systems, and general vehicle systems. Utilize hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and welding techniques to execute repairs efficiently while adhering to safety standards. Maintain detailed records of all service work performed; complete service reports and logs accurately for each job. Assist with preventive maintenance routines to extend the lifespan of trailers and heavy machinery; support equipment maintenance programs. Qualifications Proven experience working as a mechanic with a focus on heavy trucks or trailers; dealership experience is highly valued. Strong mechanical knowledge across automotive diagnostics, diesel engine repair, transmissions, suspension systems, air brake systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Skilled in reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues. Hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation including excavators, forklifts, cranes, or farm machinery is preferred. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance tools necessary for repairs. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively; familiarity with tire service procedures is advantageous. Excellent customer service skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving; ability to communicate technical information clearly.
