This is an as-needed driving position—not a fixed 9-to-5 schedule or a guaranteed-hours position. Assignments may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, holidays, airport transportation, special events, and travel beyond Western North Carolina. Assignments are generally offered hours to days in advance. You may accept or decline an offered assignment. Once you accept, WNC Shuttle expects you to honor that commitment, except in the case of a genuine emergency. You must be able to report reliably to Waynesville for accepted assignments, respond promptly to assignment communications, and provide polished client service. If you need guaranteed weekly hours, frequently run late, or cannot remain reachable for time-sensitive communications before and during accepted assignment windows, this position will not be a good fit.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Safely transport clients in WNC Shuttle vehicles to airports, events, lodging properties, and other destinations. Review assignment details and confirm required information before departure. Arrive prepared and on time for every accepted assignment. Communicate promptly about confirmations, ETAs, delays, or anything that could affect service. Welcome clients warmly and provide careful assistance with luggage. Follow the approved itinerary, safety requirements, appearance standards, and client-service procedures. Use sound judgment and remain calm when traffic, weather, flight changes, or client needs affect the plan. Return the vehicle in clean condition and complete the required post-assignment handoff.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Meet WNC Shuttle's commercial-auto insurance eligibility requirements. Our current insurer requires drivers to be at least 26 years old. Hold a valid, unrestricted North Carolina Class C driver's license. A CDL is not required for the vehicles used in this position. Maintain an acceptable motor-vehicle record under WNC Shuttle's commercial-insurance standards, including the applicable three-year review period. After conditional selection, complete an initial DOT physical conducted by an FMCSA-listed medical examiner and renew the examination annually as required by WNC Shuttle. DUI/DWI history will be evaluated under WNC Shuttle's commercial-auto insurance eligibility requirements and may be disqualifying. Complete motor-vehicle and background screening after receiving the required disclosure and providing written authorization. Final eligibility is contingent upon the results and commercial-insurance approval. Use a smartphone confidently for calls, texts, navigation, assignment updates, and basic flight tracking. Safely lift and handle luggage weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Follow WNC Shuttle's smoke-free and vape-free requirements while on assignment and in company vehicles. Complete required safety, vehicle, systems, and client-service orientation before receiving a first assignment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Professional driving, hospitality, tourism, or guest-service experience. Familiarity with Western North Carolina roads and mountain-driving conditions. Comfort driving after dark and during changing weather conditions. Defensive-driving, first aid/CPR, or customer-service training. Multilingual communication skills.
SCHEDULE WNC
Shuttle operates 24/7/365. Common assignment windows include early-morning airport trips and late-evening events. Applicants with dependable early-morning, evening, weekend, or holiday availability will be more competitive. Typical workload is 2-10 service hours per week, depending on bookings. No minimum number of assignments or hours is guaranteed.
COMPENSATION
Compensation is offered as a flat amount per assignment and is disclosed before you decide whether to accept the assignment. The listed $20-$60+ per hour range is an estimated equivalent based on the anticipated service time for an assignment; compensation is not calculated as an hourly wage. The actual equivalent rate varies by assignment, and no minimum number of assignments or hours is guaranteed. Electronic payment is issued after completed assignments are recorded in WNC Shuttle's system.
SELECTION PROCESS
Qualified applicants may be invited to a brief phone screen and interview. Following conditional selection, candidates must complete the required background and motor-vehicle screening, commercial-insurance review, a DOT physical at WNC Shuttle's expense, and a vehicle orientation/test drive before receiving assignments. Pay:
