$65,000-$85,000 annually, based on experience and certifications About Tag‑B Transportation Tag‑B Transportation is a growing transportation company serving major institutions and government agencies throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area. We operate a diverse commercial fleet that includes Ford Transit passenger vans, Ford E‑450 and F‑550 shuttle buses, Ram vans, minibuses, ADA vehicles, and larger passenger buses. We are seeking a skilled and dependable Certified Fleet Mechanic to keep our vehicles safe, compliant, reliable, and ready for daily service. Primary Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair shuttle buses, passenger vans, minibuses, and larger commercial buses. Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, fluid services, filters, belts, hoses, brakes, tires, batteries, and scheduled inspections. Diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, cooling, exhaust, and electrical systems. Troubleshoot electrical faults, warning lights, starting and charging systems, and vehicle-computer issues using professional diagnostic equipment. Service hydraulic brakes, air-brake systems, HVAC systems, wheelchair lifts, ramps, doors, and other passenger-accessibility equipment. Conduct DOT-compliant inspections and ensure vehicles meet federal, state, local, and company safety requirements. Respond to roadside breakdowns and perform emergency repairs when required. Accurately document inspections, repairs, parts, labor, and preventive-maintenance work in the company's fleet-management system. Identify recurring mechanical issues and recommend preventive or corrective action. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance facility. Coordinate with the Fleet Manager and operations team to prioritize repairs and minimize vehicle downtime. Assist with vendor repairs, warranty claims, parts ordering, and vehicle inspection preparation. Required Qualifications At least three years of professional experience maintaining or repairing commercial vehicles, shuttle buses, trucks, or fleet vehicles. Strong working knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines. Demonstrated experience with brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, HVAC, and computer diagnostics. ASE certification in one or more applicable areas. Valid driver's license with a safe driving record. Ability to diagnose mechanical problems independently and complete repairs correctly. Ability to maintain accurate service and inspection records. Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment and safely work underneath and around commercial vehicles. Must be dependable and available to support a transportation fleet with daily service commitments. Must successfully complete applicable background, driving-record, drug-screening, and employment-verification requirements. Preferred Qualifications ASE Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician certification. ASE School Bus or Transit Bus certifications. Class A or Class B CDL with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements. EPA Section 609 air-conditioning certification. Experience with Ford Transit, Ford E‑450, Ford F‑550, Ram ProMaster, Starcraft shuttle bodies, minibuses, and ADA vehicles. Experience servicing wheelchair lifts and passenger-door systems. Familiarity with DOT annual inspections and commercial fleet compliance. Welding, fabrication, body-repair, or mobile roadside-repair experience. Experience using fleet-maintenance software and electronic inspection records. Schedule This is a full-time position. Candidates must be flexible because maintenance may be scheduled around morning and evening transportation operations. Some early-morning, evening, weekend, emergency, or overtime work may be required. Compensation and Benefits Annual salary of $65,000-$85,000, based on experience, certifications, and demonstrated technical ability. Paid time off and company holidays.
