Heavy Truck and Trailer Mechanic (at least 2 years experience required)

Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking skilled and motivated Heavy Truck and Trailer Mechanics to join our team. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of heavy-duty class 8 trucks and trailers to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will keep our fleet running smoothly, safely and efficiently. This position offers an exciting opportunity for mechanics with a passion for heavy highway trucks and trailers to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced environment. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy class 8 vehicles, including tandem tractors, triaxle dump trucks, water trucks, roll-off trucks, flatbed trailers, tanker trailers, etc. Utilize schematics, technical manuals, and computer aided diagnostic tools to accurately identify issues with diesel engines, automatic transmissions, air brakes, HVAC systems, PTO hydraulic circuits and electrical components. Repair or replace components such as brake shoes and air chambers, tires, suspension systems, steering linkages, fuel injectors, radiators etc. to ensure optimum performance without sacrificing vehicle safety and compliance. Maintain detailed service records of all repairs performed and parts used; ensure all work adheres to safety standards and quality control procedures. Assist with heavy lifting tasks and perform equipment disassembly and assembly as needed for repairs or upgrades. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience with comprehensive set of own hand tools. Proven mechanic experience with class 8 heavy duty trucks and trailers. Strong mechanical knowledge of transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel engine repair. Skilled in reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex machinery issues. Proficient with hand tools, air and electric power tools, computer aided diagnostics, and tire service tools. Ability to perform heavy lifting of 40 lbs or more safely and regularly in a busy shop environment. Experience working with farm machinery, industrial equipment, excavators, cranes, forklifts, or similar heavy machinery is a plus Communicate technical information clearly to team members and management alike. Detail oriented, able to multitask and advance work through multiple shifts. Must work well with others and look out for everyone's safety at all times. Leverage your mastery of heavy-duty truck and trailer repair to drive our operational standards. Your technical skill will directly optimize our fleet's efficiency and compromise-free safety standards.
