Field Installation Technician — Part-Time / As Needed TechTuned Installations — Green Brook, NJ TechTuned Installations is looking for a reliable, experienced installation technician to help complete customer jobs throughout Central and North Jersey. This is a part-time, as-needed position designed for someone who already has hands-on experience with automotive electronics, AV installation, low-voltage wiring, smart-home equipment, or similar technical installation work. The primary need is weekday availability while the owner is working another full-time position, generally before approximately 3:00 PM . Additional evening or weekend work may occasionally be available. This is not a traditional 40-hour-per-week position. Jobs will be offered based on customer demand, technician experience, location, and availability. Typical Jobs TechTuned handles a wide variety of automotive and home technology installations.

Examples of work may include:

Automotive Electronics Apple CarPlay and Android Auto radio installations Factory radio replacement and aftermarket touchscreen installations Backup camera installation and troubleshooting Dash cam installation and hardwiring Front and rear parking sensor systems Amplifier and subwoofer installation Speaker and audio system upgrades USB and charging upgrades Remote start systems Wireless CarPlay integration systems OEM-style technology upgrades Motorcycle and recreational vehicle audio Basic automotive electrical troubleshooting Running and concealing wiring through vehicle interiors Removal and reassembly of dashboards, trim panels, consoles, and interior panels Home & AV Installation TV mounting Soundbar installation Home theater equipment Speaker installation Wire concealment and cable management Surface-mounted raceway installation Smart-home devices Cameras and other low-voltage equipment Outdoor TV and entertainment installations Starlink and similar technology installations General technology-related installation and troubleshooting Jobs range from straightforward installations to more involved projects requiring several hours of disassembly, wiring, testing, troubleshooting, and reassembly. What We're Looking For The ideal technician is someone who can eventually be trusted to arrive at a customer's home or vehicle, understand the scope of work, complete the installation professionally, test everything thoroughly, clean the work area, and represent TechTuned properly without constant supervision.

You should be:

Mechanically and technically inclined Comfortable working with vehicle wiring and interior trim Comfortable using a multimeter and basic diagnostic tools Able to read wiring diagrams and installation instructions Comfortable drilling, mounting, routing wires, removing panels, and performing clean finished installations Careful with customer vehicles and property Able to troubleshoot when an installation does not go exactly as planned Professional when communicating with customers Reliable and punctual Honest about what you do and do not know Able to take clear before-and-after photos of completed work Able to maintain a clean and professional work area Able to work independently once familiar with TechTuned's standards Automotive 12V installation experience is highly preferred. Experience from a car audio shop, Best Buy/Geek Squad, AV company, low-voltage company, alarm/remote-start installer, home theater company, dealership, electronics installer, or similar background would be a strong fit. You do not need to be an expert in every service TechTuned offers. Applicants with strong experience in either automotive electronics or home AV/technology installation are encouraged to apply. Most opportunities will be:

Monday-Friday Morning through approximately 3:00 PM Occasional evenings or weekends may be available Schedule varies based on booked customer jobs This position may work especially well for someone who is self-employed, works evenings, has a flexible schedule, is semi-retired, or is looking to supplement an existing installation job. Location & Travel TechTuned is based in Green Brook, New Jersey . Jobs may be located throughout surrounding areas of Central and North Jersey.

Technicians should have:

A valid driver's license Reliable transportation The ability to travel directly to customer locations The ability to transport normal installation tools and equipment Some jobs may also involve vehicles being dropped off at the TechTuned location. Compensation Approximately $40-$70+ per hour equivalent depending on experience, job type, and efficiency. Compensation may be structured on a per-job basis, with technicians receiving a strong portion of the labor revenue for jobs they complete. Experienced technicians who can independently complete higher-value installations efficiently will have greater earning potential. The goal is to compensate skilled technicians well rather than simply pay a low hourly rate for technical work. Important Quality matters more than speed. TechTuned has built its business around clean installations, honest customer communication, attention to detail, and standing behind the work performed. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and understands that a customer trusting us with their vehicle or home is a responsibility. This could grow into a larger role as TechTuned continues expanding.
