Job Description

The primary responsibility of a helper is to assist the lead mechanic in installing, altering, maintaining, and repairing water, gas, drainage, and heating systems.
Site Preparation :
Locating pipe leaks, preparing the workspace, and cutting openings in walls or structures.
Tool & Material Handling :
Gathering, packing, sorting, and carrying plumbing equipment, pipes, and heavy fixtures to and from the work vehicle. Must have own hand tools.
Basic Assemblies :
Measuring, cutting, threading, and bending pipes under direct supervision.
Minor Services :
Performing simple service tasks independently such as replacing toilet wax rings, installing garbage disposals, or changing faucet washers.
System Testing :
Helping mount pipe hangers, setting structural supports, and observing pressure gauges to check for system leaks.
Maintenance :
Cleaning up work locations, maintaining tools, and picking up stock or materials from supply shops.
Education :
High school diploma, GED equivalent, or a relevant trade school certificate.
Technical Knowledge :
Basic familiarity with plumbing tools, equipment, mechanics, and standard safety protocols.
Physical Stamina :
Fitness capability to lift heavy plumbing fixtures, navigate ladders, and work long hours in tight or cramped crawlspaces.
Key Skills :
Strong listening skills, mathematical aptitude (reading a tape measure accurately), and clear communication.
Logistics :
A valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation to travel to the shop a work truck will be provided.
Adaptability :
Resilience to work in varying environmental conditions (hot/cold) and handle high-stress emergency plumbing scenarios
