Diesel Racing Parts is seeking a skilled and dependable Fleet Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of fleet vehicles and equipment, with an emphasis on fire apparatus, ambulances, emergency vehicles, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, and heavy equipment . Our customers depend on their equipment to perform when it matters most. The Fleet Mechanic must take pride in performing safe, accurate, and professional repairs that help keep our customers' fleets on the road and ready for service .
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Fleet Mechanic will: Perform preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled fleet maintenance. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, air, and electronic system problems. Repair and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel systems, and exhaust/aftertreatment systems. Inspect and repair air and hydraulic brake systems. Diagnose and repair steering, suspension, wheel-end, and drivetrain components. Perform electrical troubleshooting using wiring diagrams, diagnostic software, multimeters, and other test equipment. Diagnose and repair starting and charging systems, lighting, batteries, and vehicle electrical systems. Perform DOT-style vehicle inspections and identify safety-related deficiencies. Service and repair fire apparatus, ambulances, emergency vehicles, commercial trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment. Perform road tests and operational checks before and after repairs. Follow manufacturer specifications, DRP procedures, and accepted industry repair practices. Properly document inspections, diagnostic findings, labor, parts, and completed repairs in Fullbay . Communicate additional repair needs and safety concerns to the Service Manager or Service Writer. Maintain assigned tools, shop equipment, and work areas. Follow all DRP safety procedures and shop policies. Participate in training and continuing technical education.
FIRE & EMERGENCY VEHICLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Because Diesel Racing Parts specializes in mission-critical fleet equipment, technicians may work on: Fire engines and pumpers Wildland and brush trucks Tankers/tenders Rescue apparatus Ambulances Command and support vehicles Emergency vehicle chassis and drivetrain systems Fire apparatus air, electrical, suspension, brake, and mechanical systems Technicians working on emergency vehicles are expected to recognize the higher level of responsibility associated with equipment that must remain dependable and ready for emergency response.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should have: Professional experience repairing automotive, diesel, commercial fleet, or heavy equipment. Working knowledge of diesel engines and vehicle systems. Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic abilities. Experience with air brake systems. Ability to read wiring diagrams, service information, and technical manuals. Ability to safely operate shop equipment and diagnostic tools. Ability to accurately document repairs and inspection findings. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. Strong attention to safety, workmanship, and detail.
CERTIFICATION & TRAINING
Fleet Mechanics working on fire apparatus will be expected to develop specialized emergency-vehicle knowledge. ASE T8 — Preventive Maintenance Inspection certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment , unless already certified. Additional ASE, EVT, OEM, and industry certifications are strongly encouraged and may be required as the technician advances within Diesel Racing Parts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The position requires the ability to: Lift and move heavy components, tools, and equipment. Work underneath, inside, and around commercial vehicles and heavy equipment. Climb onto trucks and equipment when necessary. Stand, bend, kneel, crawl, and work in physically demanding positions. Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Safely perform physically demanding repair and maintenance work. Reasonable accommodations may be made when appropriate.
