Job Description

Food Truck Cook & Service Team Member Tumbleroot Agua Fria is looking for a dependable, friendly, and detail-oriented Food Truck Cook / Counter Service team member. This position works in both food preparation and customer service, helping execute our menu from grill to fryer to cold prep, while also taking orders, running the register, and providing excellent hospitality to guests. This is a hands-on position in a busy food truck and kitchen environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable cooking, prepping, cleaning, communicating clearly in English, (Spanish a definite plus), following food safety procedures, and working as part of a team.
Job Responsibilities Responsibilities may include:
Set up and stock the food truck, prep areas, line stations, paper goods, sauces, utensils, and other necessary supplies before service. Prepare menu items according to Tumbleroot recipes and standards. Cook food using the grill, fryer, sauté station, and other cooking methods as needed. Prepare cold items, toppings, sauces, garnishes, and other prep items. Take customer orders, answer menu questions, run the register, and provide friendly counter service. Communicate clearly with customers, coworkers, bartenders, and managers during service. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area throughout the shift. Follow best practices for safe food handling, including proper handwashing, glove use, temperature control, labeling, dating, storage, and prevention of cross-contamination. Store food correctly, rotate stock, and discard expired or questionable products. Help with prep for the current shift and following shifts. Clean and sanitize cooking surfaces, prep areas, equipment, utensils, and customer-facing areas. Sweep, mop, remove trash, break down boxes, and help keep the food truck, kitchen, and storage areas clean. Assist with inventory checks, food storage logs, prep lists, and communicating low-stock items. Follow directions from kitchen leads and managers. Help support both the food truck and indoor kitchen as needed. Qualifications and Skills A strong candidate will have: Experience cooking in a restaurant, food truck, café, bar, or similar food service environment. Comfort working multiple stations, including grill, fryer, prep, and counter/register. Strong customer service skills and a friendly, professional attitude. English proficiency sufficient to take orders, answer customer questions, read tickets, follow instructions, and communicate clearly with the team. Basic written and verbal communication skills. Good organization, speed, and accuracy during busy service periods. Ability to follow recipes, prep lists, cleaning procedures, and food safety standards. Ability to work well as part of a team. Good judgment, reliability, and attention to detail. Ability to stand for long periods, work in a small space, lift supplies as needed, and work in a fast-paced environment. Education and Experience Preferred but not required: One to two years of experience as a line cook, prep cook, food truck cook, counter service worker, or similar food service position. Food handler card or willingness to obtain one. High school diploma or GED. Culinary training or certificate is a plus, but not required.
