08/13/2026 2:13 PM The Town of Clarkstown is seeking a candidate to work in the Clarkstown Highway Department. This position requires semi-skilled mechanical work. Job Description This is semi-skilled work involving primarily routine automotive mechanic duties, but which may, from time to time, involve more difficult mechanical assignments. The work is performed under the direction of an Automotive Mechanic or a supervisor. During periods of emergency work, employee in this class may be required to work during times outside normal working hours. Does related work as required

Minimum Qualifications:

An Associate's degree in Automotive Technology or comparable degree or possession of a certificate from a post-secondary vocational school in Automotive Technology or comparable curriculum; or Two (2) years of either vocational or technical training in automotive mechanics at the high school level; or Two (2) years of experience in automotive mechanics as an Apprentice, Maintenance Helper to an Automotive Mechanic or as an Automotive Mechanic.

Civil service examination requirements have been waived for this position. Candidates must only meet the minimum qualifications for consideration.
