Full Time Automotive (Bus) Mechanic/Bus Driver Responsible for performing skilled mechanical repairs and maintenance on school buses and district vehicles, as well as operating a school bus when needed. Candidates must meet minimum Civil Service qualifications.
Salary range:
$61,000-$65,000, based on experience, plus contractual benefits. The Automotive Bus Mechanic/Driver is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and safely operating buses and other district vehicles. Duties include diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine-related problems; performing preventive maintenance; completing repairs; and ensuring vehicles meet all safety and regulatory requirements. This position may also operate school buses or other vehicles as needed, transporting students safely while following established routes, schedules, and traffic laws. The successful candidate will conduct daily vehicle inspections, maintain accurate maintenance and repair records, respond to breakdowns, and report safety concerns promptly. Strong knowledge of automotive and diesel systems, diagnostic equipment, tools, and safety procedures is required. The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically skilled, safety-conscious, and able to work independently. A valid driver's license, appropriate commercial driver's license and endorsements, and applicable certifications may be required. The Automotive Bus Mechanic/Driver must maintain professionalism, reliability, and a strong commitment to student safety.
