You will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and troubleshooting of production tooling—such as metal stamping dies, injection molds, or extrusion dies—to ensure manufacturing operations run efficiently and produce parts meeting precise specifications. This is a full-time, direct-hire position.
Die Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting dies for wear, cracks, or damage. Troubleshoot tooling issues directly on the production floor, diagnosing root causes for part defects, burrs, galling, or misalignments. Disassemble, repair, polish, weld, shim, and reassemble worn or broken tooling components. Operate conventional machine tools—such as surface grinders, milling machines, and lathes—to fabricate or modify replacement parts to tight tolerances. Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical schematics. Maintain detailed logs of maintenance activities, tool changes, and spare parts inventory.
Die Maintenance Technician Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Technical certificate, associate degree, or completed apprenticeship in Tool and Die Making preferred. Two to five years of hands-on experience working in a manufacturing toolroom or press shop environment. Proficiency using precision measurement instruments, including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators. Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated experience operating manual or CNC machine tools. Working knowledge of metallurgy, tool steels, heat-treating processes, and welding techniques (TIG/MIG). Ability to lift heavy components and safely operate material handling equipment like overhead cranes and forklifts. This position is in a manufacturing work environment. While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, lift in excess of 50 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
