Automotive Technician / Fleet Mechanic Companion Transport — Toledo, Oregon Starting at $42,000 Full-time Companion Transport is looking for a capable, dependable automotive technician to help maintain our fleet of sedans, minivans, and Ram ProMaster wheelchair-accessible vehicles. You do not need ASE certifications to apply. We care much more about what you can actually diagnose, repair, and verify. Professional shop experience is welcome, but strong hands-on experience, independent repair work, fleet experience, or a serious self-taught background may also qualify. This is not a position for someone who simply replaces parts and hopes the problem goes away. We need someone who can slow down, research when necessary, follow a process, and make sure the vehicle is genuinely repaired before returning it to service. What You'll Be Doing Diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems Performing preventative maintenance and routine repairs Completing brakes, suspension, cooling system, ignition, sensor, and general engine-related work Using scan tools, service information, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment Inspecting vehicles and identifying developing safety or reliability concerns Verifying repairs through testing and post-repair inspections Keeping accurate maintenance and repair records Helping decide which repairs should be completed in-house and which should be outsourced Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area Occasionally assisting with vehicle recovery, inspections, or other fleet-related needs What We're Looking For Meaningful hands-on automotive repair experience Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability The ability to complete a job carefully from beginning to end Attention to connectors, hoses, brackets, fasteners, fluid levels, wiring, and final inspection details Willingness to use repair information instead of relying only on memory Honesty when you do not know something Reliability and consistent attendance A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record The ability to work independently while communicating clearly with management ASE certification is not required . What matters most is that you understand the difference between making a vehicle run and making it right, safe, and ready to return to service .
