THE POSITION
The Corrections Automotive Mechanic Trade Instructor position at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Dallas offers a chance to make a positive impact every day. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides structured classroom and hands-on instruction to inmates in the automotive mechanic trade while ensuring safe and efficient daily operations. As a Corrections Automotive Mechanic Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:
Trade Instruction:
Teach automotive inspection, repair, and overhaul skills through classroom lessons and hands-on training
Work Crew Oversight:
Direct inmate work crews, assign schedules, and review completed tasks for quality
Tool Control:
Issue, track, and account for all tools and materials used during training and work assignments
Training Records:
Maintain documentation of inmate attendance, progress, and assignment details
Material Planning:
Identify needed supplies and submit purchase requests to support ongoing training activities Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Four years of experience in the diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and replacement of various components and systems used in automobiles, trucks, or construction or heavy equipment; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the automotive mechanic trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the automotive mechanic trade.
Special Requirements:
This position requires possession of an active Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning Technician Certificate issued by an approved provider. This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class B Commercial Driver's License or equivalent. This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license. This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Emissions Inspection Certification. This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic Certification for Class C vehicles and Class 7.
Other Requirements:
