Job Description
Fleet & Equipment Mechanic Penn FS is seeking a skilled and dependable Fleet & Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This is an important role within our operation, responsible for keeping our trucks, trailers, landscaping equipment, and snow-removal equipment safe, reliable, and ready to perform. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can diagnose problems effectively, works well independently, and understands the importance of preventative maintenance. The ideal candidate is a hands on problem solver who is committed to keeping equipment operational and minimizing downtime for our field crews. What You'll Do Work directly with the Fleet Manager to plan and prioritize weekly maintenance and repair needs. Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair trucks, trailers, small engines, and various fleet equipment. Perform preventative maintenance according to company and manufacturer maintenance schedules. Respond to urgent repair needs to minimize equipment downtime and keep field and snow operations running efficiently. Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance, including parts used, labor hours, and repair notes. Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and efficient shop environment. Identify and immediately report unsafe equipment and coordinate with Fleet or Operations to ensure proper resolution. Follow all required safety procedures when lifting equipment, using tools, and handling fluids or hazardous materials. Assist with seasonal preparation, ensuring landscaping equipment, snow vehicles, and related equipment are fully prepared before each season. Take ownership of shop organization and efficiency while recommending improvements when appropriate. Identify recurring mechanical issues and recommend long-term solutions to improve equipment reliability and lifespan. Communicate effectively with the Fleet Manager and Operations team regarding equipment condition, repairs, and anticipated needs. Experience & Skills The ideal candidate will have hands on experience servicing and repairing a variety of commercial equipment, including: 2-cycle equipment Mowers Skid steers Plows Snow sidewalk machines Trucks and trailers Small engines Landscaping and snow-removal equipment Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills are highly valued. The ability to identify problems, determine the appropriate repair, and recognize potential recurring issues is essential. What We're Looking For Previous experience as a mechanic, fleet mechanic, equipment mechanic, or in a similar hands-on mechanical role. Strong troubleshooting and problem solving abilities. Ability to work independently while taking direction when needed. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to prioritize urgent repairs and effectively manage maintenance needs. Commitment to workplace safety and proper equipment handling. Reliable, organized, and accountable work ethic.
