Full-time Newman & Company is seeking an experienced Trailer Mechanic to maintain and repair our dry van trailer fleet. This is a stable, full-time, first-shift position with a consistent Monday-through-Friday schedule, overtime opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package. What We Offer Consistent Monday-through-Friday, first-shift schedule Overtime opportunities Year-round, full-time work Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off/Sick time Life insurance Parental leave Company-provided personal protective equipment, excluding safety-toe work boots Stable employment with a fifth-generation, family-owned Philadelphia company What You'll Do Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair dry van trailers Repair brakes, wheel seals, hubs, bearings, suspension systems, axles, slider assemblies, doors, roofs, floors, lighting, and trailer panels Troubleshoot and repair air brake, ABS, and electrical systems Perform preventive maintenance and DOT annual inspections Inspect outgoing trailers for DOT and FMCSA compliance Complete welding, fabrication, and metal repairs Maintain accurate inspection, repair, and parts records Assist with parts and repair inventory Occasionally assist with tractor and forklift repairs Respond to occasional road calls when needed Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area What We're Looking For At least two years of hands-on trailer repair or closely related fleet-maintenance experience Experience repairing dry van trailers Welding and fabrication experience Knowledge of air brakes, ABS, electrical systems, suspension, wheel ends, and preventive maintenance Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems Valid driver's license Ability to provide the standard hand tools needed for the position
CDL, DOT
inspection, flatbed, or walking-floor experience is preferred but not required Physical and Work Requirements This position requires prolonged standing and regular bending, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and working underneath equipment. The employee must be able to lift and handle parts and equipment weighing up to 80 pounds, with assistance or lifting equipment when appropriate. Work is performed indoors and outdoors in a fleet-maintenance environment. Employees may be exposed to changing weather conditions, vehicle fumes, vibration, and elevated noise levels. Required personal protective equipment is provided by the company, except for safety-toe work boots. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the company's post-offer drug screening and physical examination requirements.
