Job Description

Hybrid Truck & Trailer Mechanic (Shop & Mobile Service) Position Summary We are seeking a skilled, self-motivated Truck & Trailer Mechanic to join our team. This is a hybrid position that combines work in our repair shop with mobile field service at customer locations throughout the region. The ideal candidate is experienced in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial trucks, trailers, and specialty equipment while providing outstanding customer service in the field. This position requires a mechanic who is comfortable working independently, managing service calls, and maintaining a clean, professional appearance while representing the company. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair commercial trucks, trailers, and specialty equipment. Perform preventive maintenance and DOT inspections. Repair air brake systems, suspension components, wheel ends, lighting, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems. Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical issues. Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed. Complete trailer structural repairs, flooring, doors, liftgates, and body repairs. Operate a fully equipped mobile service truck to perform on-site repairs. Travel to customer locations for emergency breakdowns, scheduled maintenance, and repair work. Maintain accurate repair orders, inspection reports, and parts usage. Communicate repair findings and recommendations to customers and management. Maintain company tools, service vehicle, and equipment in a clean and organized condition. Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety procedures. Assist with shop operations during periods of reduced field service. Participate in after-hours emergency service rotation as needed. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience as a truck and/or trailer mechanic. Strong knowledge of commercial truck and trailer systems. Experience diagnosing electrical, air brake, suspension, and hydraulic systems. Welding and fabrication experience preferred. Ability to read wiring diagrams and service manuals. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (CDL preferred but not required). Ability to safely operate forklifts, service trucks, and shop equipment. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Physical Requirements Frequently lift up to 75 pounds. Ability to stand, kneel, bend, climb, and work underneath vehicles for extended periods. Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to climb ladders and safely access trailers and equipment. Pay:
$30.00 - $45.00 per hour
