Under general supervision, is responsible for the fueling, lubrication, and routine inspection of all divisions' heavy and light equipment. Reports to the Fleet Services Manager.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Responsible for the daily inspection of all heavy and light equipment utilized by the division which includes delivering fuel, DEF fluid, motor oil, hydraulic oil, antifreeze, etc to all equipment and related vehicles. Maintains fueling schedule as issued by Fleet Services Manager. Completely and accurately inputs data into handheld unit while fueling to include gallons, DEF Fluid, equipment hours and/or mileage. Performs general service maintenance for assigned landfill vehicles including maintaining grease, oil, and fluid levels. Performs required scheduled service maintenance for assigned vehicles and follows all recommended schedules for grease, oil, blowing out of coolers and air filters as needed and other vehicle fluid additions and changes as scheduled by supervisor. Performs daily inspections of all equipment to include wire wrap on tracks, final drive, leaks or damages. Assists in the evaluation, diagnosis and repair of routine maintenance problems and report major problems to Fleet Services manager. Responds to emergency calls to make determination of severity of problem. Maintains accurate records in dispensing of parts, and request part replacements when parts are used to maintain truck inventory parts supply as set by the Fleet Services Manager. Responsible for checking and documenting fuel farm tank levels for on road and off road, regular gas and DEF. Performs all job functions in compliance with weather, safety and environmental policies and procedures. Uses all approved PPE and reports any missing PPE or other related safety concerns immediately to Fleet Services Manager. Interacts and communicates with a variety of groups and individuals to include the heavy equipment operators, Director of O&P, Landfill Supervisor, service contractors, scale house operators, parts store personnel, other SWA employees, etc. Performs other related duties as required.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to operate a computer and run various software packages. Must have knowledge of Diesel Engines and the ability to service it. Must have general knowledge of Hydraulics and Hydraulic Fluids. Ability to work independently. Ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks. Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School graduate or equivalent with a minimum of five years in maintaining and repairing light and heavy equipment or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Valid South Carolina Commercial Drivers license with Haz-Mat endorsement or must obtain within 6 months of employment.
