Dabney Collins

Mechanic

Job Description

Now Hiring:
Mechanic - Diesel & Gasoline Dabney Collins is a high-end landscape design-build firm serving the Upstate of South Carolina. Behind every project is a fleet of trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment that has to be ready to run every morning — and we are looking for an experienced mechanic to keep it that way. What You Would Do Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines across our equipment fleet — skid steers, mini excavators, tractors, mowers, trenchers, and handheld two-cycle equipment. Maintain and repair our trucks and trailers, including brakes, suspension, drivetrain, axles, bearings, lighting, and wiring. Troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems, and handle welding and fabrication repairs. Carry out our preventive maintenance schedule by hours and mileage so problems get caught before they become breakdowns. Source parts and supplies, and handle warranty claims with our dealers and vendors. Keep complete, accurate maintenance logs on every unit, and keep the shop clean and orderly. What We Are Looking For Significant hands-on experience with both diesel and gasoline engines, ideally across heavy equipment, light trucks, and small engines. Strong diagnostic ability — you work from symptoms and repair it right the first time. Welding and fabrication capability, and comfort with diagnostic software and service manuals. Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented, with the discipline to complete maintenance logs thoroughly and on time, every time. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to safely tow and haul equipment. A CDL is a plus. Own hand tools preferred; specialty tooling and shop equipment are provided. Pay & Benefits $26.00 to $36.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated ability. We offer medical coverage with a company contribution, plus access to dental and vision coverage, paid time off, life insurance, and short-term disability. We also offer a Simple IRA with a 100% company match on the first 3% you contribute. Why This Role This is a long-term seat with real ownership of the condition and reliability of one of the most important assets in our business. As our fleet grows, so does the scope of this role — more capability in the shop, better tooling, and a larger say in how we care for our equipment.
