Position Overview In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of semi-trailers for a small, independent private fleet, along with some third-party service coordination. This is a hands-on role requiring experience specifically with trailer systems. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and problem-solve effectively. Responsibilities Perform repairs on semi-trailers, including floors, doors, panels, roofs, suspension, and frame components. Service and repair air systems, air brakes, and landing gear. Repair trailer lighting and electrical systems. Perform trailer interior and exterior repairs. Conduct regular DOT inspections and preventative maintenance. Diagnose mechanical issues accurately and implement effective solutions. Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory. Maintain parts inventory and ensure cleanliness and organization in the shop. Collaborate with team to diagnose problems and plan repair schedules. Move equipment in and out of the shop as needed. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. Qualifications Prior hands-on experience repairing semi-trailers required. Must have own tools and be willing to purchase tools required for the job. Ability to diagnose issues accurately and implement effective solutions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work. Familiarity with DOT compliance requirements. Must meet qualifications to perform DOT annual trailer inspections and brake inspections per 49 CFR 396 Appendix G and 49 CFR 396.25, or be willing to complete necessary training to do so. Valid Class A CDL is preferred. Company will assist in obtaining within 180 days of hire if desired. High School Diploma or GED required Welding experience is a plus. Diesel engine knowledge is a bonus, but not required for this role.
