Trailer Mechanic Job Description As a Trailer Mechanic, you maintain and service hostlers, performing preventive maintenance and repairs to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently. You work hands-on with mechanical and electrical components, using provided tools to diagnose issues, complete repairs, and support reliable daily operations, with significant opportunity for growth and skill development. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance (PM) services on hostlers to ensure safe and reliable operation. Inspect hostlers regularly to identify mechanical and electrical issues before they lead to equipment failure. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and assembly-related problems using appropriate tools and techniques. Complete repairs on hostlers, including replacing parts, adjusting components, and restoring systems to proper working condition. Use hand tools and other provided equipment safely and effectively during maintenance and repair tasks. Install and assemble components and parts on hostlers according to specifications and safety standards. Document maintenance and repair activities clearly and accurately to support ongoing service records. Follow established service procedures and safety guidelines while working in an outdoor environment. Collaborate with team members to prioritize work orders and ensure timely completion of maintenance and repair tasks. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper care and storage of tools and equipment. Essential Skills Hands-on experience working on hostlers or similar heavy equipment. Strong mechanical skills, including the ability to inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical components. Basic to intermediate electrical skills related to equipment service and repair. Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues to identify root causes and effective solutions. Ability to perform preventive maintenance (PM) services following established procedures. Skilled in using hand tools safely and efficiently for service, repair, and installation tasks. Experience with assembly and installation of equipment parts and components. Ability to work independently and follow technical instructions and safety guidelines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Comfort working in an outdoor environment in varying weather conditions. Willingness to learn and expand technical skills with support from the organization. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Good communication skills to coordinate tasks and report equipment status. Work Environment This role is primarily outdoors, working around hostlers and related equipment in an operational setting. You use a variety of provided hand tools and service equipment while performing maintenance, repairs, and installations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Claycomo, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.50 - $28.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
