About the Role First Fleet Services is hiring a Service Writer for our City of Arlington fleet operation. You'll connect city departments, vehicle operators, and our technicians. You'll check vehicles in, write clear work orders, track repairs, and keep customers updated from drop-off to pickup. If you know your way around a shop, communicate well, and like keeping things organized, you'll do well here. What You'll Do Greet vehicle operators and city staff, and check vehicles in and out. Listen to driver concerns and turn them into clear, accurate work orders. Schedule preventive maintenance and repairs with the shop team to keep downtime low. Track repair status, parts, and outside repairs; give customers timely updates by phone, email, and in person. Keep work orders, notes, and vehicle history accurate and complete in the fleet management system. Coordinate with technicians, the parts team, and outside vendors to keep vehicles moving. Handle urgent requests from police, fire, and other critical departments calmly and professionally. Help prepare basic reports on shop activity, turnaround times, and backlog. What We're Looking For 12-24 months of experience in automotive repair, service writing, service advising, or a parts counter. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Organized and detail-oriented; able to juggle several priorities in a fast-paced shop. Comfortable with computers, email, Microsoft Office, and web-based work order systems. Basic knowledge of vehicle systems and repair terms. ASE C1 (Automobile Service Consultant) certification preferred, not required. We'll support you in earning it. Fleet management software experience (FASuite, AssetWorks, or similar) is a plus. Valid Texas driver's license. Why Join First Fleet Services?
