Job Description

Overview We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor / Writer to join our dynamic dealership team. This role is vital in providing exceptional service to our customers by accurately diagnosing vehicle needs, recommending appropriate repairs, and ensuring a smooth communication process between technicians and clients. The ideal candidate will possess dealership experience, strong automotive knowledge, and excellent sales and customer service skills. This position offers an engaging environment for those passionate about automotive repair and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Greet customers promptly and professionally, establishing rapport and understanding their vehicle concerns Write detailed service orders, accurately documenting customer complaints and vehicle issues Communicate effectively with service technicians regarding diagnostics, repairs, and estimated timeframes Upsell additional services such as oil changes, tire services, alignments, suspension work, brake repairs, and transmission services when appropriate Provide clear explanations of recommended repairs and maintenance to customers, ensuring they understand their options Manage auto estimating processes using dealership management software to generate accurate repair estimates Handle cash transactions and process payments efficiently Coordinate with parts department for availability of necessary components for repairs Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and foster repeat business Maintain comprehensive knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, and repair procedures including diesel engines, air brakes, shocks & struts, auto body repairs, and more Skills Proven dealership experience with a strong understanding of automotive service management Extensive knowledge of automotive diagnostics, repair procedures, and mechanical systems such as transmissions, oil changes, alignments, suspension systems, tire services, brake repairs, diesel engines, and auto body work Ability to upsell services effectively while maintaining integrity and customer trust Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor Strong auto estimating skills with experience in service writing software Background in mechanic work or service technician roles is highly desirable Familiarity with automotive sales processes is a plus Mechanical knowledge related to vehicle maintenance including shocks & struts, air brakes, transmissions, and other key systems Effective communication skills for explaining technical issues clearly to customers Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about the automotive industry who thrive in a fast-paced environment dedicated to delivering exceptional customer experiences.
