At Southern, a Shop Truck Mechanic is critical to maintaining fleet reliability and ensuring equipment is ready to perform when operations demand it. As a Shop Mechanic, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain trucks and equipment in a controlled shop environment, directly impacting uptime, safety, and operational efficiency. Success in this role means catching issues early, executing quality repairs, and keeping the fleet consistently ready for the field. What You'll Do Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy trucks and equipment in the shop Troubleshoot and repair issues ranging from tires and brakes to turbo replacements Diagnose electrical faults and complete wiring repairs Perform hydraulic troubleshooting and basic system repairs Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation Support occasional work on hot shot trucks and goosenecks Collaborate with operations and field teams to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime Identify potential issues early and address them before they impact operations Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment What You Need to

Succeed Required:

Minimum 2 years of mechanic experience At least 1 year of trucking or heavy equipment experience Strong diagnostic ability Experience changing diesel motor components (e.g., turbos, injectors, internal components) Proficiency in electrical systems and basic hydraulics Reliable, punctual, and able to work a consistent schedule Ability to follow safety procedures and shop standards

Preferred:
