Automotive Service Advisor

Job Description

Yates GMC | Henderson, Texas Yates GMC is looking for an experienced, customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor to join our Service Department in Henderson, Texas. The Service Advisor is the primary connection between our customers and our technicians. We're looking for someone who communicates well, stays organized in a fast-paced environment, and understands how to build customer trust while identifying legitimate maintenance and repair needs. Responsibilities Greet customers promptly and provide a professional, positive service experience. Consult with customers to understand vehicle concerns, maintenance needs, and requested repairs. Perform vehicle walk-arounds and accurately document customer concerns and existing vehicle condition. Write clear and detailed repair orders. Review manufacturer-recommended maintenance and identify appropriate service opportunities. Provide accurate estimates for parts, labor, and expected completion times. Communicate effectively with technicians and the Parts Department to keep repairs moving efficiently. Keep customers updated on repair progress, additional recommendations, delays, and changes in estimates. Obtain customer authorization before completing additional work. Clearly explain recommended repairs, completed work, and future maintenance needs. Review repair orders and invoices for accuracy before vehicle delivery. Process warranty and maintenance repairs according to GM and dealership guidelines. Maintain accurate customer and vehicle information in the dealership management system. Professionally resolve customer concerns and involve management when appropriate. Build long-term customer relationships and encourage repeat service business. Work toward dealership goals for customer satisfaction (CSI), service sales, and gross profit. Maintain current knowledge of GMC/GM vehicles, warranties, recalls, maintenance programs, and service procedures. Participate in ongoing GM and dealership training. Preferred Qualifications Previous Automotive Service Advisor / Service Writer experience preferred. GM or GMC dealership experience is a plus. Working knowledge of automotive maintenance and repair. Strong customer-service, communication, sales, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple customers and repair orders in a fast-paced service department. Comfortable using dealership management systems and other automotive software. Ability to explain technical automotive information in clear, customer-friendly language. Professional appearance and positive attitude. Ability to work effectively with technicians, Parts, management, and customers. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
