Fleet Service Technician Performs semi-skilled, skilled, technical, and administrative work in maintaining the vehicles and mechanical equipment of the City of Killeen. The employee will have the responsibility of:- Safely operating a Forklift and/or other lifting devices
- Performing diagnostic, preventive maintaining and repairing on a wide variety of vehicles and equipment. to include tune-ups, overhauling engines, transmissions, differentials, clutches, brakes, drive trains, generators, computer-controlled fuel injection and emission related equipment, carburetors, air conditioning, electrical, cooling, suspension, pumps, hydraulic systems, and steering
- Scheduled and unscheduled repairs and ensuring compliance with all industry standards
- Handling new vehicle check-ins, maintaining shop equipment, and ensuring a safe and clean work environment
- Operating automotive and general shop equipment to include brake lathes, gas and arc welding equipment, engine analyzers, tire equipment, scanners, and computers; complies with and helps enforce shop safety rules
- Providing road call assistance to disabled equipment as needed and appropriate. Enters work order updates and progress in a computer-based maintenance program; recordings of maintenance and repair work, including parts used and hours worked
- Maintaining the security of issued city owned equipment. (e.g., tools, toolbox, safety equipment) The work environment will require the employee to:
- Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock As an employee with the city of Killeen some benefits are:

Wellness Events & Free Gym Membership Required Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; and
- One (1) year of specialized training from an accredited institute; or
- Three (3) years related experience
Special Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver's license by date of hire
- Texas State CDL License preferred but not required by date of hire
- Must obtain an air conditioning certification, state Motor Vehicle Inspector's (MVI) certification and Texas State CDL License within one (1) year, funded by the City
- Upon completion of the six (6) month probationary period, employee will be required to be "on-call" for after-hours emergencies approximately one week per quarter.
