This position is locally funded. Position Summary Perform mechanical repairs to ensure proper performance and safety of district vehicles. Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities 1. Applies basic working knowledge while using diagnostic equipment to evaluate basic mechanical problems in vehicles. 2. Under close supervision, services vehicles according to established preventive maintenance schedule. Rotates and balances tires; changes oil and filters; lubricates vehicle parts; inspects and replaces hoses, belts, mirrors, lamps; and maintain all fluid levels. 3. Inspects vehicles and evaluates condition of systems, equipment, accessories, and lights using basic working knowledge; services as needed. 4. Maintains accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service. 5. Makes emergency calls as assigned by supervisors when vehicles have problems in the field. 6. Performs preventive maintenance, including bleeding of air tanks, on shop equipment according to established schedules. 7. Completes work with little to no latitude for independent judgment in accordance to quality, performance, safety and industry standards. 8. Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position. Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or regional accrediting agency).
  • Up to a 1 year experience
  • Must pass annual medical examination per Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Valid Texas driver's license Class "A" or "B" Commercial Driver's License with endorsements for school bus driver (persons hired with a class "C" driver's license, must obtain the "A" or "B" CDL with endorsements within 30 calendar days from the date of employment).
Safe driving record verified by Texas Department of Public Safety (meet and maintain liability coverage eligibility).
