Job Description
Job Overview A position open requiring exemplary automotive knowledge and experience. Position requires mechanic to diagnose, build estimates, and perform service on standard automotive vehicles; including but not limited to brake work, tune-ups, suspension work, auxiliary accessory, coolant systems, air conditioning systems, and OBD diagnostics. Industry standard pay applies for FLAG time based on the Mitchell scale and is negotiable. Mechanic is expected to supply tools necessary to perform services. Shop supplies heavy equipment and machinery. Position requires standard knowledge of computers and software required for estimates and invoicing. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics using automotive diagnostic tools to identify issues with engines, electrical systems, and vehicle systems. Repair and maintain various vehicle components including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical systems. Interpret automotive wiring diagrams and schematics to accurately troubleshoot complex electrical problems. Conduct engine repairs on both gasoline and diesel engines, including diesel engine repair and powertrain servicing. Use hand tools, power tools, and manual handling techniques to disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicle parts efficiently. Perform wheel alignments and automotive wiring diagram interpretation to ensure precise vehicle operation. Maintain detailed service records and communicate effectively with customers about repairs needed and completed work. Requirements Proven experience working as an automotive mechanic or technician. Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive engine technology, electrical systems, and vehicle maintenance procedures. Familiarity with automotive diagnostic tools and diagnostics processes. Ability to interpret schematics and wiring diagrams accurately for troubleshooting electrical issues. Skilled in heavy lifting, manual handling, and the use of hand tools, power tools, and automotive repair equipment. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; relevant certifications or ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification is advantageous.
