As a Field Mechanic Heavy Equipment & Fleet, you will play a vital role in ensuring our fleet of construction equipment and vehicles operates at peak performance. This position offers the opportunity to work independently in the field, troubleshoot and repair a diverse range of equipment, and directly contribute to the success of major infrastructure projects. Responsibilities Travel to project sites across Utah to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment and fleet vehicles. Work on a variety of equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, motor graders, rock trucks, rollers, compactors, service trucks, pickups, trailers, and other support equipment. Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related issues. Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled services to minimize equipment downtime. Repair diesel and gasoline-powered engines and related systems. Conduct emergency field repairs as needed to keep projects on schedule. Carry out welding and light fabrication tasks when required. Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and work orders. Communicate effectively with field supervisors, equipment operators, and shop personnel regarding equipment status and repair needs. Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Keep service truck and work areas clean, organized, and professional. Qualifications 5+ years of experience repairing heavy construction equipment and fleet vehicles. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, drivetrains, and preventative maintenance. Experience diagnosing and repairing yellow iron equipment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 80 pounds. Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as needed. Valid driver's license required. CDL is a plus but not required. Welding and fabrication experience preferred. Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Strong communication skills and ability to prioritize repairs under pressure. Dependable, safety-focused, and willing to travel between job sites as needed.
