Western Disaster Clean Up (WDC) About the Position WDC is looking for a highly capable, mechanically inclined Fleet & Equipment Maintenance Technician to take ownership of the maintenance and repair of our company vehicles, equipment, tools, trailers, and facility. We operate a fleet of approximately 30 vehicles , consisting primarily of gas-powered light-duty vans and pickup trucks. We also operate a large amount of specialized restoration equipment, trailers, small-engine equipment, power tools, and other machinery. This is not a position where management will provide step-by-step instructions for every repair. We are looking for someone who can be handed a problem, diagnose it, research it when necessary, figure out the solution, get the parts they need, and get it fixed. If something breaks, we want someone whose first reaction is: "Let me figure out what's wrong with it." Vehicle Maintenance & Repair You will be responsible for keeping approximately 30 company vehicles safe, reliable, and properly maintained.

Responsibilities include:

Preventative maintenance and scheduled services Oil changes, filters, fluids, belts, hoses, batteries, etc. Brake repairs Suspension and steering repairs Electrical troubleshooting and repair Check-engine-light and diagnostic work Cooling system repairs Fuel system repairs A/C and heating repairs Engine-related repairs that can reasonably be completed in-house Tire maintenance and coordination Identifying developing problems before they become major repairs Coordinating outside repairs when a job requires specialized equipment or expertise Maintaining accurate service and repair records for each vehicle Tracking mileage and upcoming maintenance Keeping registrations, emissions, inspections, recalls, and other fleet requirements current We do not expect this position to perform highly specialized repairs such as internal transmission rebuilds. We do expect you to handle most repairs that can reasonably and efficiently be completed in-house. Equipment, Tool & Trailer Repair This position is also responsible for maintaining and repairing WDC's equipment and tools, including: Dehumidifiers Air movers HEPA air scrubbers Water extraction equipment Pumps Generators Pressure washers Power tools Small engines Trailers Electrical and mechanical equipment Other tools and equipment used throughout our operations You should be comfortable diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems, researching unfamiliar equipment, finding parts, and learning how to repair equipment you may not have worked on before. From time to time, this may also include working on ATVs, motorcycles, and other recreational equipment owned by the company owners. Facility Maintenance You will also help keep our Provo facility in excellent condition. This includes general handyman and maintenance work such as: Minor building repairs Doors, locks, shelving, and hardware Minor plumbing repairs Lighting and basic electrical repairs Painting and touch-ups General preventative maintenance Equipment installation Snow removal Identifying facility problems and coordinating outside contractors when necessary The expectation is simple: take ownership of the facility and help keep it in great shape. Parts, Inventory & Organization You will also be responsible for: Keeping common maintenance parts, fluids, filters, and supplies stocked Maintaining an organized shop and work area Identifying tools and equipment that need repair Preventing damaged or unsafe equipment from being returned to service Researching and sourcing replacement parts Requesting approval for purchases Coordinating with outside vendors when needed WDC provides the shop, tools, diagnostic equipment, and other equipment needed to perform the job. What We're Looking For Automotive repair experience is required. However, we care just as much about mechanical ability, troubleshooting skills, and resourcefulness as we do about a specific number of years on a résumé.

The right person will:

Have strong automotive repair and diagnostic knowledge Be mechanically inclined Understand preventative maintenance Be comfortable working on vehicles, tools, equipment, trailers, and small engines Be able to diagnose problems independently Know how to research something they haven't repaired before Be comfortable learning new repair procedures Take ownership of problems from diagnosis through completion Stay organized and keep maintenance records current Recognize when a repair should be outsourced rather than attempted in-house Work with minimal supervision Be dependable and self-motivated Have a valid driver's license and good driving record Be physically capable of performing mechanic and facility-maintenance work, including lifting, climbing ladders, working underneath vehicles, and working indoors and outdoors Schedule & Compensation This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position , Monday through Friday. We are flexible on exact starting and ending times as long as the position consistently works 40 hours per week and the needs of the company are being met.

Pay:

$25-$30/hour depending on experience and ability. WDC also offers an employee health insurance match . The position is based at our Provo, Utah location . Occasional travel to our Denver operation may be required. The Person We're Looking For More than anything, we want a problem solver . We want someone who doesn't need management standing over their shoulder telling them how to fix something. A truck has a problem? Diagnose it. A dehumidifier stops working? Figure out why. Research it, learn how it works, and determine the best way to repair it.
