Hour Position Description:
Old Dominion Mechanical, LLC is seeking a knowledgeable and dependable HVAC Mechanic to join our commercial construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in commercial buildings. This position requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and the capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Install, service, and maintain commercial HVAC systems including air handlers, VAV boxes, RTUs, heat pumps, and split systems Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and specifications to determine HVAC layout and installation procedures Braze and solder refrigeration lines, install refrigerant piping and drain lines Perform system startups, test for proper operation, and troubleshoot malfunctioning systems Ensure all work complies with local mechanical codes, regulations, and project specifications Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and other trades to complete projects on schedule Maintain tools, equipment, and job site cleanliness Accurately complete job logs, material tracking, and other required documentation
Additional Responsibilities:
Train and mentor apprentices as needed Identify and recommend improvements to project workflows Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all site-specific safety protocols Provide feedback to supervisors on material needs or system performance issues
Required Certification/s:
EPA Section 608 Certification (Required) OSHA 10 Certification (Required; OSHA 30 Preferred) Valid Driver's License State HVAC Mechanic License (if required by jurisdiction)
Required Training/s:
HVAC system installation and maintenance Electrical and control wiring basics Safety procedures and code compliance

Minimum 3-5 years in commercial HVAC work
Required Knowledge:
HVAC system components (ductwork, controls, refrigerant systems) Mechanical code requirements and best practices Refrigerant handling and leak detection Blueprint and schematic reading
Required Skills:
Ability to install and test HVAC equipment and systems Proficiency in brazing, soldering, and using HVAC-specific tools Ability to interpret and follow plans, wiring diagrams, and control schematics Clear communication with team members and supervisors Strong attention to detail and jobsite safety
Required Physical Abilities:
Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly Working in elevated locations, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions Bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods
Other:
Punctual, reliable, and adaptable to changing jobsite needs
