Job Description An Automotive Technician diagnoses, repairs, and maintains vehicle mechanical and electronic systems.
Key responsibilities include:
Diagnostics:
Use of computerized diagnostic tools to identify malfunctions in engines, transmissions, suspension, HVAC, and electrical systems.
Maintenance & Repair:
Performing preventative maintenance and needed repairs identified during diagnostic procedures.
Vehicle Inspection:
Conducting thorough inspections to identify worn or damaged parts and checking overall vehicle safety.
Component Replacement:
Removing, repairing, and installing worn or damaged parts in accordance with OEM standards.
Documentation:
Recording service details, parts used, and repair procedures on work orders and in computer systems.
Customer Interaction:
Discussing vehicle issues, recommending repairs, and providing cost estimates to clients.
Test Driving:
Operating vehicles to verify repairs and ensure proper functioning.
Shop Safety & Upkeep:
Maintaining a clean, organized work area and adhering to safety regulations.
Qualifications Technical Knowledge:
Understanding of vehicle systems and computerized diagnostics.
Problem Solving:
Ability to analyze malfunctions and test potential solutions.
Skills:
Strong communication skills. Ability to develop professional relationships with customers and team members. Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment while staying organized and maintaining attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, stoop and bend for prolonged periods. Exert 50 - 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10 - 25 lbs. of force frequently and/or greater than 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials. (By applying, you are agreeing the you are able to meet the physical requirements listed for this role)
Licensure:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Personal attributes:
Outstanding work ethic, dependability, and a passion to grow in a career.
Education and Certification:
High School Diploma or GED is required.. Vocational or Technical school training and ASE Certifications are prefered, but not required.
