Automotive Installation Technician $18-$25/Hour | Full-Time | Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM-3:30 PM Are you mechanically inclined and enjoy working with trucks, equipment, and hands-on installations? We're seeking an Automotive Installation Technician to join our growing truck upfitting team. In this role, you'll install and service specialty truck equipment for municipalities, government agencies, and commercial fleets. Whether you have experience in automotive repair, truck equipment installation, fabrication, maintenance, or mechanical assembly, we'd like to hear from you. What You'll Do Install truck bodies, liftgates, van interiors, dump bodies, snowplows, and other specialty equipment Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical connections on vehicles and equipment Troubleshoot and repair previously installed equipment Read work orders, drawings, and installation instructions Inspect completed installations to ensure safety, quality, and proper operation Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and specialty equipment Assist with fabrication, cutting, and welding projects as needed (training provided) Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment What We're Looking For 1+ year of mechanical, automotive, equipment installation, maintenance, or related experience Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Ability to use hand and power tools confidently Experience with basic electrical wiring and 12V vehicle systems preferred Knowledge of hydraulic systems is a plus Ability to read technical instructions and follow specifications Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented attitude Ability to lift, carry, and work around trucks and equipment throughout the day Preferred Qualifications Automotive, diesel, truck equipment, fabrication, or equipment repair experience Welding experience or willingness to learn Own basic mechanic hand tools Why Join Us? ✅ Competitive pay: $18-$25/hour based on experience ✅ Employee-only health insurance provided at no cost ✅ Stable Monday-Friday schedule ✅ Paid training and skill development opportunities ✅ Learn fabrication, welding, hydraulics, and electrical systems ✅ Work with a respected truck upfitting company serving municipal, government, and commercial customers ✅ Long-term career growth in a specialized industry Work Environment This position is based in a professional truck upfitting shop. You'll work with trucks and specialty vehicles using hand tools, power tools, hydraulic equipment, and diagnostic tools. PPE is provided, and safety is a top priority. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portsmouth, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
