Job Description
Job Summary We are a vintage race car shop, so we inspect, prepare, set up, transport, and maintain various types of vintage race cars. We attend around 15 races a year from March through December. The rest of the time, we work a normal 5-day, 9-5 work week with a paid hour for lunch. Days on the road are paid 10 hours per day, plus a stipend for food. An applicant must be enthusiastic about this era in automotive history and must possess the respect and care these cars require. General automotive experience is required in areas like brakes, suspension, basic engine upkeep, and careful inspection. Attention to detail is a must, and the ability to travel over weekends to race events is a must. Towing experience is a plus, particularly with larger trailers. We tow 48' goosenecks. Responsibilities Perform careful visual inspections of various race cars after a race event Diagnose problems or potential problems with brake, suspension, ignition, engine, and/or drivetrain systems Possess the ability to ask for help or clarification when not sure about the ideal approach; these cars do not always take the "normal" approach to a fix, and asking is always better than guessing Work carefully and deliberately, not quickly Arrive on time consistently Possess the desire and ability to learn about unusual and sometimes defunct suspension, brake, and engine parts Interact positively with our drivers at the track and/or the shop This is a great opportunity to work with rare, historic, and fascinating race cars while seeing many of our country's most famous race tracks!
