Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Auto Mechanic / VA State Inspector to maintain and repair vehicles. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them aiming to maximum reliability and functionality. An excellent auto mechanic has good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. They are well-versed in complex mechanical or electronical systems of vehicles and have excellent problem-solving abilities. They must be good communicators to provide advice to customers. Responsibilities Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended. Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time. Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order. Road tests vehicles when required. Supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned. Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle. Keeps shop area neat and clean. Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state, and local regulations such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc. Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner. Reports any safety issues immediately to management. Other tasks as assigned. Skills Proven experience as auto mechanic Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods Ability to handle various tools Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc. Excellent physical condition 5 years experience is required Valid certification (e.g ASE, State Inspection) is a definite plus.
